Steven Tyler
After a stint on the Boston club circuit, under the direction of their first manager Frank Connelly, the band began working with New York managers Steve Leber and David Krebs. In 1972 Aerosmith signed a recording contract and released their debut album. It was immediately followed by Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic, Rocks and Draw the Line, which helped propel Aerosmith to international fame and recognition. The albums that inspired them were the basis of famous hits such as "Dream on", Walk This Way, as well as "Sweet Emotion". Aerosmith's first five albums were multi-platinum. Toys in the Attic and Rocks are regarded as some of the best hard rock albums ever. As the decade went by however, the group's chaotic schedule of performing, recording and living together started wearing them down. Tyler and Perry were frequently referred to as the Toxic Twins, for their legendary intake of stimulants and heroin. Aerosmith Behind the Music contains many videos that show their bond. Tyler, apparently much more dedicated to the band was able to feel resentful towards Perry's passive manner and admired Perry's priority for females in his life. The tense dynamic between Tyler, Perry, and their former girlfriends was an important factor in the gradual decay of Aerosmith around 1980.
